The Moscow Metro opened to passengers in May 1935. From the very beginning, its emblem was not strictly standardized and over the years has repeatedly undergone spontaneous and uncontrolled transformations: it changed shape and proportions, acquired contrasting outlines and a tunnel-like outline, lost its serifs, was illuminated with neon. Only one thing remained constant: the red letter M always symbolized the capital's metro.
