Duplicate Post - this plugin allows you to duplicate pages and posts, as well as edit them as a new draft. The extension has been downloaded thousands of times, and to encourage the developer of this solution, you can transfer him a few cents (as stated in the description on the official plugin page).
How it works:
- In the WordPress content editing panel menu, you can click the "Clone" button located at the bottom of the page or post title. This action will immediately create a copy of the document and return you to the list.
- In the content management panel, you can click the "New Draft" button
- In the editing menu, click the "Copy to new draft" link above the "Cancel/Trash" text
- While viewing a post as a registered user, you can click the "Copy to new draft" dropdown link located under the "Edit post" text in the admin panel
The second, third, and fourth methods will take you to the new draft editing page—change anything you like and click "Publish" when you're done.
Note that the first method allows you to directly clone a post in one click, increasing the speed of your project work, especially if you need to duplicate many such posts. There is also a special template tag, so you can write it into your own and clone posts and pages from outside the site. Clicking the link will allow you to edit the page for a new draft. In the settings pages, you can choose exactly what to copy:
- original page/post date
- original page/post status (draft, published, pending) when copied from the posts list
- original page/post exclusion
- attachments to the page/post
- child documents of the original page
- custom fields
You can also set a prefix or suffix before or after the title of the copied page and content, as well as user roles for them.
